Even if for the moment I am living in UK, today I am celebrating the National Day of Romania!
Great Union Day is occurring on December 1! The national holiday was set after the 1989 Romanian Revolution, and marks the unification not only of Transylvania, but also of the provinces of Banat, Bessarabia and Bukovina with the Romanian Kingdom.
Being one of the most important days for Romanians, Bucharest City Hall together with the Administration Monuments and Heritage Tourism organizes a series of festive activities to celebrate the National Day of Romania.
This festive day will begin by singing the National Anthem, and then it will run 21-gun salute by the artillery battery, followed by the traditional military parade with more than 1.500 soldiers from all walks of forces who will march under the Arch of Triumph. There will also be an air show organised by the Romanian Aviation School.
The National Day of Romania is a special one for every Romanian people because they are proud of their national identity, history and roots. They are feeling the emotions of this day even if they are living in different parts of the world. They are celebrating it with friends and families on streets following the amazing show made by the Army, or at home in front of the TV set or just partying.
It does not matter if you are poor or rich, if you miss your country or not, the National Day of Romania is a day of celebration for everyone!
Happy National Day, my Romanian people!
